The Coffee Station in Blagdon village

Ryan's new venture to compliment The Garden House is The Coffee Station. Set in of Blagdon Village, the the heart of Yeo Valley aka The Chew valley, we offer stylish space and friendy service.

Open 7 days a week, we provide a wide range of Barista-prepared coffees, fine teas, fresh cakes, made on the premises, together with light lunches and afternoon teas. We welcome dogs.

Yes, we were on '4 in a Bed' - the TV series on Channel 4

Ryan and Sarah our head of housekeeping 'competed' in the series, at this time last year. It was a very mixed experience and definitiely edited for maximum drama.

It is no secret that Ryan works incredibly hard to make guests feel that The Garden House is a home from home, but the lovely reviews continue to surprise and delight us. Lisa stayed with us in mid-July for just one night, but her kind words made the whole team very happy.

We are up and running, everything is working smoothly and judging by the reviews, our guests are happy and and enjoying the refurbished rooms and our breakfasts. This was one of the reviews from the beginning of the month that has made all the hard work worthwhile!

Our first Bed and Breakfast guests arrive this week. We look forward to welcoming them and many more over the coming months.

If you are looking for a short break in Bristol, Bath or the North Somerset region, perhaps a spot of walking in the hills or fishing at the Chew Valley lakes, we are delighted to see you. We offer a very warm welcome, beautiful accomodation and a delicious cooked breakfast.

Almost there!

Lockdown has not been a quiet time at the the garden house. We isolated here and and kept working on our improvments.

We are now delighted to announce that we are nearly ready for business, with all our rooms refurbished, literally from the ground up. New floors, hypnos beds, and beautifull designed soft furnishings.

Most importantly, we can now serve a freshly cooked, full English breakfast, to our guests in the newly styled dining room.

May 2020

Our refurbishment of bedrooms is now complete and we are looking forwards to welcoming visitors!

The garden is looking beautiful, with Rhodedendrons in full flower and the trees that special, brilliant shade of green. May and June really are the best time of year.

Having completed our ten bedrooms, our public spaces are now being redecorated and lighting improved, before we commence work on the dining room and new kitchen facilities. Yes, you heard that correctly: we aim to be serving full English breafasts to guests in the near future.

February 2020

Oue refurbishment is going well! More bedrooms are now complete and we are upgrading our beds to Hypnos - the same brand that the queen sleeps on! The outside of the building is also getting a make-over too.

Several years ago, an ancient Cedar tree fell over in high winds. Rather than waste the timber, a mobile saw-bench was bought in and the tree was sawn up into naturally shaped planks, to make into cladding. Now these planks have fully dried, they are being fitted to the exterior of the building, to help it blend in more naturally to the garden.

The four refurbished bedrooms rooms are all now in use and the electronic locks are working well. Work continues on the remaining rooms.

Plans for refurbishment of the Garden House are moving ahead as planned. There is no disturbance for our customers.

This is the first of the updated rooms. Others are in progress and should be complete by May 2020.

All bedrooms will soon have full electronic door locks, allowing guests to access rooms with swipe cards or their phones.

November 2019

Ryan Blackman took over the Garden House in November.

As you might imagine, there is a lot more than meets the eye to running a small guesthouse. With a background in hospitality and fine dining, Ryan has significant plans for the Garden House. Starting out with gradual refurbishment of the bedrooms, they include the fitting of a proper kitchen and serving full breakfasts and other meals from Spring 2020, ultimately the opening up of the premises for non-wedding guests and travellers.
